cool news and a very quick question
Hi-
I did some research and I found that encryption and lvm takes extra effort, so I found an alternative way to backup. I can use dd from a live disk.
My quick question is in the example I looked at they restored to another disk which is the same size or larger. Can you restore to the same disk, and will it just overwrite the data on the original disk? The tutorial I saw actually did it slightly different to a different disk on restore.
e.g. # dd if=/dev/hda of=~/hdadisk.img (create image).
# dd if=hdadisk.img of=/dev/hda (restore)
I'd put the disk image on my external drive instead of in /home/user.
thanks for helping -
