Connect via Wireless using Ubuntu 7.10 and Linksys
Hey folks.
It's been a long time sinse I have been here with my stupid questions. So please forgive me if I am repeating myself. I just installed 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) onto my 20Gig IDE slave. (Dual Booting with Windoze), and I cannot remember how to get connected to the internet. I am using a Linksys WUSB11 ver.2.6 Wireless Antenna, trying to connect to an open network that is made available by the apartment complex that I reside in. The ESSID is 'Rodeway'. It is an Unsecured Network, but for some reason, I still cannot get on the internet. Could someone please help me configure my network files? This antenna has always worked before with Ubuntu 7.10. Thanks! |
If the apartment wireless will do DHCP, then your wireless should work out of the box. You need to check. You should also try searching for your card on these forums:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ireless-78482/ When it worked before, did you need to install a driver? Is this the same apartment complex as before? See: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ubuntu-542813/ You sure the ESSID is "Roadway" and not "RoadwayGrove"? Check support: http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_p...ndname=Linksys Read the notes: http://at76c503a.berlios.de/ Otherwise we want to see the output of: iwconfig lsusb for usb wireless card. And have a look for the driver with lsmod. Check dmesg for mention of the card. |
