Exclamation configure swap usage, relieve stress off of RAM.

Yo, i want to know if there is a way to get ubuntu to use swap more than RAM. The reason is that i have 2Gb Swap and 512 RAM, ram runs at 90%- Opera, Juk running-, whilest swap at >5%.

I was thinking of adding more than but wanted to know alternative before i do that.

Thanx,

How would this help you? Swap space is slow; it is on disk. The less of it that it is necessary to use, the better.

I too have 512 RAM, and ubuntu just starts swapping when it needs to. I'd just not worry about this : I got to about 50% of swap used with 99 % of the RAM, and It was running (almost) the same.

Linux typically uses all the RAM - this is by design.
If you double it, it will probably still be >90% used.
What will that prove ???.

Spend the money if you need to, but not unnecessarily.
Have a read of this.
