Conexant- Modem - Ubuntu -conexant cx20468 - URGENT
 

Hi guys,

After googling a lot, tired, this is my last option.

My System: HP Pavillion Notebook dv2125nr
My Specs:
AMD Turion 64 x2.
nVIDIA C51M chipset (Northbridge).
MCP51 Southbridge.
Modem-conexant cx20468
OS: Ubuntu 7.04
Kernel ('uname -r'): 2.6.20-15-generic


My Problem:

Cant either detect or install my Fax/Modem to use it for a Dial-UP connection

"lspci -vv" wont give my any info related to my modem.

So, i have NO idea how to find the Vendor ID and stuff, required by the HowTo im reading (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Di...owto/Conexant). ("2. Check your Vendor:Device pci id with "lspci" to see something like:")


With this thread im trying to find anyone with this problem, or similar or solved and finally be able to use my Dial-UP connection.

P.s.: The modem used to work under Windows. (Ethernet and Wifi works great)

One of the modem driver sites, either Intel, Linmodems.org, or linuxant.com offers a small windows tool called 'scanmodem'. You should download it (assuming you have windows still on the machine?) and run it in windows, to get the modem's chipset identification numbers.
Is that modem onboard, or plugin? (I'm not familiar with laptops, so I assume it is onboard..)
try 'lsdev' as well as lspci.
I'll get back to you if I find more. First thing first, is to identify the chipset (we know it is connexant, but more would be good).

As i said at my first post, i tried ScanModem, nothing.
The "Ubuntu Guide ..." uses this

Closest I can come leads to the HSF driver available from that page.
I got directed here from here: http://manticore.2y.net/ze5155.html which is about Linux on some laptops, but not your model specifically.
You're right, pretty scarce resources on that thing.
Well, won't hurt to try the HSF driver.
