compiling audacious ===> dependency hell

Hi folks,

Because the version of Audacious that was included in HH does not work properly, I am trying to compile a newer version downloaded from the Audacious website.
Now I am experiencing difficulties with satisfying the dependencies.
I am searching for the dev-version of libmcs1_0.7.1-1_i386.deb, but I cannot find it.
An extensive search on the Debian site gave zero result.
If you know where I can acquire this package please let me know.
The version must be 0.7.1-1.

It's available and current in Lenny (testing).

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/i386/libmcs1/download

I suggest you use this as a last resort, Debian and Ubuntu are not always binary compatible. You could instead try the package from Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libmcs1

Thank you, but I do have the package that you indicate.
However there should be a developer version of this package that enables compilers to use this package.
A developer version would look like: libmcs1-dev_0.7.1-1_i386.deb
And that is what I am looking for... in vain, so far.

It's just called libmcs-dev, not libmcs1-dev. You can find ubuntu packages at packages.ubuntu.com and debian packages at packages.debian.org. For a dev package for a library search under Library development.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libdevel/libmcs-dev

http://packages.debian.org/testing/libdevel/libmcs-dev
