Clean Edgy Install had a few annoying problems

I'm a big fan of Ubuntu. I had 6.06 installed on my laptop. I tried installing Edgy, but I had 2 annoyances that I couldn't figure out. First of all, my wifi card didn't work as seemlessly as it has with 6.06. I had to manually configure and tell my system to use the wifi card everytime I restarted my computer. Secondly, my touchpad did not work properly. I couldn't use the scroll wheel simulation on the right side of the pad as I used to do with 6.06. Both of those problems annoyed me enough that I reinstalled 6.06 since it "just works."

Can anyone help me with my issues with Edgy? I would like to update my system, but only if I know that my system will work.

Thanks
