Changing user passwords in Ubuntu dapper server

Hey everyone

I've recently installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.06 server (no X) on some old hardware. I was in the process of creating a user account using the "useradd" command. However, it came to my attention that the user needed a password. I tried to use the "usermod" command, but I think I'm getting the syntax wrong. Anyone know how to do this from the command line?

For instance, the user's name is Bob. How do I set Bob's password to "google".?

Thanks,
vital_101

passwd Bob should prompt you for Bob's new password. You need to be root to do this (not sure if Ubuntu server has you as root or not, so you might need sudo passwd Bob instead.
