changing the ownership of drives

Hello,

I have done a fresh install of Ubuntu desktop 17.10 64 bit.
I used Gparted off the live cd to do my partitioning.
In linux how do I change the ownership of the drives so I can have read/write access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See man chown.

If the partition in in your /etc/fstab, you can set it to rw,user (rw=read/write). This is probably the best option.

Here's a good fstab tutorial: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/3812...-does-it-work/

With the drive mounted run:
Code:
sudo chown username:username mountpoint
Insert your own username where indicated and substitute the target drive mountpoint in the above.
