Changing default Web browser in Ubuntu?

How do I change my defult browser from Firefox to Opera? There is no option in Opera 9.0 for Linux to do this that I could find, and I couldn't find this question asked elsewhere here.

Ubuntu Dapper 6.06
Kernel 2.6.15-26-k7
AMD Duron 1.2 Ghz
768 MB memory

I am getting the hang of Linux, and rarely even boot Windows anymore...almost set up the way I'd like and am looking forward to relegating Windows to the dustbin.

If this was asked in an earlier thread, I apologize for missing it and repeating the question.

In Gnome, click System - Preferences - Preferred Applications. On the internet tab, select "Custom" for web browser, and type in the command for Opera (probably opera).

I hope this helps

or you could do
Code:

sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
that will make /usr/bin/x-www-browser (the default for compatability with all apps) point to whatever web browser you want

Guess I should have poked around in Gnome a little bit more...Changing it in preferences worked like a champ!....oh, well, I won't be a :newbie: forever! Thanks so much!
