Hi
I have just installed kubuntu 6.10 and think my cpu is running to fast.
I have just run 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' and get the following info.
"
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 13
model name : Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.40GHz
stepping : 8
cpu MHz : 1678.769
cache size : 1024 KB
fdiv_bug : no
hlt_bug : no
f00f_bug : no
coma_bug : no
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 2
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss tm pbe nx up
"
The CPU seems to be running at 1678 instead of 1400.
Does anyone know how i can fix this
Thanks
Chris

Hi
From from what i can see there is no scaling for the CPU as its a celeron M frequency scaling is not enabled in "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/" there is no directory called "cpufreq/". Does this mean frequency scaling is not turned on?

Sounds like it. On my laptop I have said directory. I'm assuming your processor does indeed support scaling since it's a mobile version.
Which kernel are you using?

Hi
I don't think celeron M does support scaling. here is a quote from wikipedia "This Celeron (sold under the Celeron M brand) is based on the Pentium M, and differs from its parent in that it has half the L2 cache, and does not support the clock-varying SpeedStep technology"
I think i am running kernel version 2.6.17

Hi
I am running kernel version "2.6.17-10-generic"
The problem now seems to have resolved its self and the CPU is now running at 1400.299.
