CD/DVD mount problem in 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)
Hi
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid lynx). It was OK after some of kernel updates (I guess): It doesn't auto mount CD/DVD when I insert them. When I insert CD/DVD system writes this in "syslog": Code:
Oct 13 23:08:51 ariyan-laptop pulseaudio[1759]: ratelimit.c: 87 events suppressed Code:
Oct 13 23:07:27 ariyan-laptop kernel: [39200.076178] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Unhandled sense code I made ISO images of some of DVDs in a windows box and transfered them in my ubuntu and tried to mount them and there were no problem with ISO images!! the problem is with the physical CD/DVD ! What's on? How can I fix it? |
You might want to poke around looking for a firmware update for your DVD drive and see if that helps?

Today something strange happened!
I tested 7 DVDs and 2 of them had this problem and the others was OK! I also tested 3 VCDs and all was OK! Do you still think it's firmware problem? How can I update firmware? |
Nope, sounds like you're using discs that weren't made well. Stick to reputable DVD medium, and do a 'disc verify' for each disc you burn (especially installation discs, since having one go bad can be a complete disaster.)
A good way to test would be to try inserting a few commercially made DVDs, since they use a different process and tend not to have media errors. Glad it's working for you! |

Hi and thanks for your attention.
All of those DVDs was commercial (Both those that had problem and those didn't had pronlem!)! the problem is not with my own written discs! All of them are written by one company! They mount in windows without problem! I cant verify them because they are not even detected! I attached the screenshots of Disk Utility with both correct and incorrect DVDs! I also found this Bug report that has same errors as my problem but there are no solution there: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/405544 |
