After I installed K3b uvia apt-get I cant login. It would login then I get an message says i have been logged in less than 10 secs then logs me out. why?
That is a really weird problem! Have you tried bouncing your box? Have you installed a new kernel lately?? Is this a new install because if it is then you might want to reinstall the OS.
You might want to boot to command line and uninstall the k3b package and then try to reinstall the package if you are able to boot back into X without X logging you out.

That is also a message you will get because of a crash-handler in your Xserver. Are you sure you didn't make any changes to your Xorg (or Xfree86) configuration?
Try looking through your Xorg (or Xfree86) logs in /var/log
The strange thing is that it's fine when am logged in as root. Hence I just recreated my users. it recreated all the configuration files etc Then started working again
