cannot update ubuntu 12.04
Hi guys,
Firstly, my /etc/apt/sources.list file is ruined. ive made various changes without making a backup before hand.
The current issues im having is:

24% [Connecting to www-proxy.ericsson.se]
As you can see somewhere along the line i manged to add ericsson somewhere along the way but cannot seem to find it anywhere. It just hangs at 24%.
2) I cannot update via Ubuntu Update Manager. I get the following error: Requires installation of untrusted packages. The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
My question would be how to restore the folder to default and be able to update via apt.
Thank you
Marios

I sometimes have to switch from national (Norwegian) repositiories to the US repos in order to get the downloads.. I do this in Synaptic.

It looks like you are configured to use a web proxy but are unable to resolve it to an ip address.
Are you able to browse the web?
Anyway, give this a try
Code:
unset http_proxy https_proxy
sudo apt-get update
if that fails
Code:
sudo -i
unset http_proxy https_proxy
apt-get update
exit
NB, the unset will only apply to that shell session you will need to look at fixing your global network proxy setting to make it perminant
However
The fact that you don't seem to be able to resolve the proxy means that you probably won't be able to relsolve the repositiories either.
Hope that helps

It would be good to also post your complete /etc/apt/sources.list.

Best Regards

Well you can be sure that the "hardy" entries are not of any use. That is a reference to the 8.04 repos and should be removed.
You can get a good copy of the default sources.list here;
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_P...y_sources_list
That entire page may be of some help to you also.
That site is a good resource for folks using Ubuntu and its off spring.

I'm guessing Widget's default sources.list link was the fix?

Funny you mentioned it. It was a combination of both the sources.list file as well as the system proxy setting. Which was strange cause i was able to connect to all my networks without any issues.
