cannot play audio cd's in Ubuntu

hello, i can't seem to play audio cds when i put a disc in my computer. i get an error that says "couldn't display cdda:///dev/scd0. there was an error launching the application". can anyone help?

What program are you using to try and play it?

There are always other programs you could use, e.g. vlc, kscd, mplayer (does audio cds, I think), xine...

Have you tried xmms? But if you cd-player is in fact a dvd-player, remember to set the play mode to digital audio extraction.
