Angry Cannot Install Ibex due to error message for Windows during partition setup

I wanted to do a clean install for Ubuntu 8.1 but after I was reviewed the partition set up which I did not want to change, I got an error message that said that the setup program could not properly mount? accept? whatever the partition for windows. This caused the install to fail which then messed up the GRUB file which I had to then fix with super grub! Any ideas. I am using the same data from the previous install during the partition install section of the Ubuntu install disk.

Redo it and give us the exact error message(s). And note which install media you are using (standard liveCD or alternate CD), and what actions led to the error.

Cannot Install Ibex etc

sygoo,

Thanks for your response. I always use the alternate install disk and the error was to the effect that the partition manager count not mount the windows partition. I will be installing Ibex on a different unit when I install a new larger hard drive on that unit and will let you know the results. Both units are IBM T23's and have Travelstar hard drives.

The unit on which the error occurred is now in daily use and I do not want to try the reinstall at this time.

Regards,

I don't have that kit, but I also only use the alternate, and have had no problems clean installing Intrepid. Both "over the top" of Hardy, and into a new partition (retaining separate /home).
See what happens.
