Hi I am kinda new to linux in general
I am using ubuntu 8.10 with kernel 2.6.27-9-generic
I have just switched over to ubuntu from Vista.
ANT type of burning worked there, also can burn any type of media other than the current dvd+r dl disks I am currently using
same everything worked in vista

get:
Code:
from /var/log/messages

kernel: [ 169.841070] cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
kernel: [ 285.625265] ata2: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)

OK, so I repaired my problem by ugrading to kernel-2.6.27-11-generic
and also added the restricted patches.
everything works as it should now.
