Can Ubuntu replace Debian without loss of /home/ ?
Debian has given out on me this week and I don't have the time to fix its problems.
I'm trying to preserve a few files on the partition. I don't seem to be able to access the partition (EXT3) from the live CD to back the files up? Is it possible to install Ubuntu over Debian while preserving the contents of /home/? Thanks, Oldak. |
If /home is on a separate partition, then yes.
In the Ubuntu partitioning screen, tell it to use that partition as /home, and do not format it. I hope this helps --Ian |
