can ubuntu core be installed and can it run very well on the nexus 10?
 

Recently I've bought the nexus 10. The first thing I did has been the installation of Ubuntu Touch. I should say that it's not ready for the daily use,so I have removed it very fast and I have reinstalled Android 4.4.2. Since I don't like Android,I have in mind to install the Ubuntu core and then to complete the system by choosing only the packages and the drivers that I want to have. I would like to make a working installation of Ubuntu on my tablet. Reading some technical documents all around,I have found this good article :

they say that it works for the ARM chromebook,but I think that with some modifications,it could work on the Nexus 10,also,because the Samsung Chromebook shares the same hardware specifications with the Nexus 10 (like the same cpu's,even the same graphic chipset),except for the boot procedure,but it shouldn't be a problem,because I have already unlocked the device,after reading here :

So,my question is if you think that my idea can be realized.

Also I would like to find some tutorial that helps me,because I'm not an advanced user and I don't know to start this project by myself only.

I would like to know how to look inside this file : "system saucy-preinstalled-system-armel+grouper.img". I'm not able to mount it with this command : mount -o loop system saucy-preinstalled-system-armel+grouper.img /mnt,because the error is : you have to specify the filesystem type...

Instead of using Ubuntu on a touch device, try using Gnome 3. Debian and Fedora seem to be better optimized for touch.

No idea, I've never installed anything on a touch device. All I am saying is that Gnome 3 is much more touch friendly.

You should take a look in synaptic and run a search for "touch screen". There appear to be several packages there for various functions of touch screens. I have no experience with them either.

Gnome probably is the best bet. Ubuntu is a hostile platform for Gnome.

I am a Debian user and would try that first but Fedora may be a better choice but I am not sure what they have been doing in the touch screen area at all. I do know that they have exceptional Gnome integration.

Before to think about how to configure Debian for the touch,I need to understand how to install the Debian core image natively on the nexus 10.
