Browsers must be kept up to date for security reasons. I think it is better to install the seamonkey-mozilla-build from the Ubuntuzilla PPA. That way you will always be up to date. https://sourceforge.net/projects/ubu...urce=directory
You can use the following command to add it to your sources.list in one step:

echo -e "\ndeb http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/ubuntuzilla/mozilla/apt all main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list > /dev/null
Then add the package signing key to your keyring, by running the following command
(note: new key as of 2016-11-15):
you have tried renamming the dot folder ?
/home/YourUserName/.mozilla/seamonkey/????????.default
to
/home/YourUserName/.mozilla/seamonkey/????????.default.old
and restarting seamonkey
if that works then move back to the old folder and export bookmarks and passwords from the old one and use the new
