Can't telnet/ssh/sftp/scp to my ubuntu box

Hi all,

I can't telnet, ssh, sftp or scp to my Ubuntu box from either another Ubuntu box nor from a Windows box using WinSCP.
I get the following error when trying to connect from WinSCP:
"Network error: connection timeout.

My configuration is:
Ubuntu Linux version 7.10
$ uname -a
Linux mandolin 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

No firewall, just a router to which all 3 of my boxes are connected.

/etc/hosts.deny is empty
/etc/hosts.allow is empty

ssh-agent is running.
$ ps -e | grep ssh
5607 ? 00:00:00 ssh-agent

$ grep -i subsys /etc/ssh/ssh_config

(Not sure what the output of the above command should be to indicate if stp subsystem is configured).

Thanks for any help....

Have you got sshd running on the server? Without that, you won't go anywhere.

I installed open-ssh and configured it through Webmin. It was painless, and I quite like having the ability to remote administer the system through Webmin. I have also configured keys so I don't have to remember passwords. I followed this tutorial to get it working;

Hope this helps...
