Can't seem to adjust Brightness and Contrast in 5.10 Breezy
Alright, So I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a Intel 128MB X300 dedicated graphics (I'm pretty sure thats the vid. card) and the brightness and contrast are way too high. When I'm watching a movie in Xine it's OK, because I can turn them down there, but my bright, contrastless desktop is beginning to annoy me... any help?
Try the xgamma -gamma red green blue command. Open a terminal and do the following:
xgamma -gamma 1.2 1.2 1.2
You might want to try with higher or lower values to see if that helps. Once you've found the correct brightness for your display, you can either modify a line in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf or create a little application to start when Gnome starts. I help you with those if the above command works for you.
Thanks Mega Man X, It helps a little... still can't actually fix Brightness and contrast though, from what google turns up looks like no-one's found a fix for this one, looks like other systems have it worse though...
