Can't reinstall LiVES (video editor): dependency not satisfied: libgtk2.0-0

Hi-

I am using Umbuntu 8.10 on my laptop. I had up until a few days ago, LiVES installed. No problems until it got stuck crunching some large vid by mistake. Every time I opened LiVES it would still be crunching the vid and not allowing me to use the program. I decided to go to the Synaptic Package Manager and remove LiVES and the plan was to reinstall it. I located LiVES in the list of installed packages and I marked it for complete removal. This may be the problem. I normally don't check this box. I then went back to the a site that has LiVES for Umbuntu, clicked on it to install and I keep getting a message saying:
Dependency is not satisfied- libgtk2.0-0
But libgtk2.0-0 is installed and to verify, I did:
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0
and get:
libgtk2.0-0 is already the newest version.

I am at a loss. Has anyone else had this problem? I am not sure what to do to fix this.

Thanks

Neil

LiVES issue resolved

Well even after doing a complete umbuntu install, I still could not install LiVES from umbuntu or debian packages. With one I'd get a libgtk error and another would give a libjack0 error. I ended up compiling from source and it installed without errors, but I did have to add sox and image-magick packages later for LiVES to perform at its peak. What a day!
