Can't play MP3s with Amarok or RhythmBox

I downloaded XMMS, Amarok, and RhythmBox and non of them will play MP3s. I also installed gstreamer and art. I'm a total noob to Linux, but it seemed like that's what I need to play MP3s. What else do I need to install? Amarok gives no error messages it just says finished playlist as soon as I click play. RhythmBox does give an error message, it says my file is not an audio stream.

Any suggestions?

The problem is that mp3 is a restricted format, so that most distros don't compile their media players so that they support mp3. With most distributions you have to install other media-packages (e.g. xmms) from other online repositories then the official ones. Try rpmseek.com to find those packages for mandirva.
