Can't open playlists using Amarok from a remote samba share

Under Mandriva I was able to mount a samba share using mount -t smbfs, but when I try to do the same thing under Ubuntu and play music using Amarok. I'm getting errors that the local files don't exist. I can view the folder and copy the contents to my local harddrive, and then play them. But I want to play the files over my network. The playlists are .m3u format

Any suggestions?

Unlikely to be a distro problem. .m3u files embed the absolute pathname for the files - try using sed.

Actually, at least if you create them with Windows Media Player, the filenames are relative not absolute.
And that wouldn't explain why I was able to mount the share and play the playlists using Mandriva, but not Ubuntu.

I got it to work with Kaffine. However Amarok still won't play them. I think it has something to do with relative paths. I see there's an option in Amarok to save playlists with relative paths, can I set it to load them with relative paths also?

if you mount the samba share can you browse the files?

what happens if you right clicked a file and said open with amarok?
