Camera mounting problem after Kubuntu upgrade

I recently upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy, with the only snag so far being that my camera, a Panasonic DMC-LX2 now refuses to mount, where previously there had been no problem.

In Feisty, connecting the camera would cause KDE to bring up two boxes, one detecting the device as a camera, the other as just a usb-mass storage device. If I tried to the use the "camera" detection, nothing would work, whereas if I used the other detection, the device was easily mounted and worked fine.

What I'm finding with Gutsy is that only the camera detection comes up. If I then try Digikam detect and download, or open with Dolphin, nothing useful happens, though both suggest they are searching for camera drivers however I know the camera should just work like a standard USB stick. I see no specific options on the camera to set connection type so must assume that it is always set as usb-mass storage.

How can I force the automounter on Gutsy to treat my camera as just a standard usb mass storage device, and not think it has to search for special camera specific drivers? (the camera happily mounts on my ibook, and I can otherwise mount my mp3 player on Gutsy (and indeed, access the memory card of the camera when inserted into the mp3 player) so I'm confident this is purely a software issue.)

Do you have an icon on the desktop?

I had this problem with Gutsy as well. I fixed it by editting the camera in digiKam. The problem for me was that digiKam was detecting the wrong camera. Manually configuring the correct camera now works 100% for detection upon connect.

The funny thing is in Feisty, the camera still is detected incorrectly, but connects anyways.
