Bypass Desktop dir and Trash <-Possible?

So I am new to Ubuntu but not to linux. One thing that strikes me as crazy for this distro is the force of the desktop dir in my home dir. I use fluxbox.. I don't want this silly dir mucking up my home dir. I never use it so I want it actually gone. If I delete it, it replaces itself upon reboot. I could write a script that runs everytime I start fluxbox that removes the directory but that seems like a silly fix when it should be possible to delete it. So any clue how to actually delete it?

Second off, the trash thing drives me nuts. If I remove something, I mean it. I don't want to have to run around going to the trash and removing it AGAIN to gain my free space. If I want it gone I want it gone. I have read this page: (http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2006/09/...al-usb-drives/)

Again as this helps, it's kind of a weird fix. I want to press delete and mean delete. I don't want to have the ability for it to even go to the trash.. I want it gone gone. It's like if a girl says no, she means no. If I say delete, guess what? I mean delete.

Any clue how to do any of these? For now I'm more concerned about the Desktop dir, because at the very least I can stomach having to press shift + delete to "delete". But the desktop dir drives me mad. I got fluxbox to get rid of the idea of a Desktop, now it's haunting me.

I've never tried to move where the desktop is stored. As to delete vs trash, both KDE and Gnome support this option. I haven't used KDE in a while but in Gnome you set this in Nautilus preferences in the behavior tab. This is also where single vs double click is controlled.

Yes, I understand you can add an option to bypass the trash, what I was wondering was is there a way to change the key bindings so that delete automatically deletes instead of shift + delete automatically deleting. (basically I want to switch the keyboard commands for both)

As far as the Desktop directory thing, I can enter as root in a terminal, and delete the directory (as long as Nautilus isn't open, if it is it crashes Nautilus). A simple quick ls in the terminal confirms that the Desktop dir is gone. However, open Nautilus once, poof it's back again. Anyone else besides me try to axe the Desktop directory?
