Question broadcom pcmcia card and wpa in Kubuntu Gutsy

Hi,

I am installing Kubuntu Gutsy on my mom's Dell Inspiron 1000. The pcmcia card is a Dell 1350 which lspci reveals to be a bcm4306 chipset.

I have installed NDISWrapper and the window's driver and the card is functioning... i can connect to unprotected networks, negotiate an IP address, and browse the internet...

however, i cannot connect to my AP with WPA enabled... it would seem wpa_supplicant is having issues but I can't figure out how to use it... in knetworkcontrol (or whatever that systray icon is) it shows my network and gives me a place to enter my key (10 ASCII alpha/numeric characters in this case)... but the program hangs "setting up the device"

any thoughts? what more info do you need to help me?

thanks in advance,

Matty
