Breezy - Can't install some packages - and what about MP3 support?
Hello all,
I am an experienced Linux user, but this is the first time I've come into
contact with a debian based system.
I am trying to install a couple of things (Mplayer, Lame (for MP3 Support),
flash, and getting mpgs playing) and they do not seem to be in the
standard repositories, and I've
no idea where to look for some non-standard ones!
Any help (particularily for MP3) would be appreciated!
Yes, be sure to enable all the repos from synaptic. Multiverse, Universe and Restricted. Then get your gstreamer packages and do a gst-register. This should help you out for MP3 support. Make sure you grab your pitfdll, this would be the equivalent of w32codecs for gstreamer.
Have you looked at the guide in System - Help? This is very similar to the 5.04 guide, but made for breezy. I found a great program in there right off the bat, Cowbell, this helped get rid of the archaic kmusicmanager.
