Breezy: Can't find config file for emacs

I want to turn off zoning in emacs, and figured I need to do this in the config file for emacs. But I can't seem to locate it. Should'nt the file be located in my home directory, something like "more ~/.emacs"?

You got it. File name: ` ~/.emacs '

Maybe add it to /etc/skel/ so new users get one.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've never heard of /etc/skel. What is the purpose of this directory? I'll add emacs to it. But why haven't I already got a .emacs file? I find this a bit strange. And another thing: I very much enjoy my emacs setup the way it is now, and I'm afraid creating a .emacs file based on your file will ruin my setup. Will the existing setup be restored if I decide to remove the .emacs file?

/etc/skel contents are copied when a new user is created it's kind of a template for home directories.

Yes I think you should be fine if you delete this file if any eroors occur. Just delete the stuff from the file above and add what you want.

I can't help anymore on this as I use VI hehe

That /etc/skel scheme is very good - haven't heard of it before now. I'll try and copy your .emacs file and see what happens. Thanks!
