Question booting problem

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my ubuntu dapper kernel to 2.6.15-29-386 via update manager, after this updation whenever i restart the machine the following errors are occuring

1) grub loading please wait
Error 16
then i restarted the machine after 1 or 2 attempts the GRUB menu appears
when i select the option for 2.6.15-29-386 either any one of the following errors are shown

in consistent file structure
OR
selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS

then again i will have to reboot machine then after 1-2 attempts only i
am able to login.

can anybody suggest a fix for this problem????

1) inconsistent file structure:
From Grub documentation:
Quote:
16 : Inconsistent filesystem structure
This error is returned by the filesystem code to denote an internal error caused by the sanity checks of the filesystem structure on disk not matching what it expects. This is usually caused by a corrupt filesystem or bugs in the code handling it in GRUB.
You should boot from a liveCD and run fsck on your partitions.

2) selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
On poweron, enter the BIOS and check the CMOS settings for the hard drive. Make sure the drive is set to LBA (I beleive that stands for Large Block Assignment) to overcome the 'selected cylinder ...' error.

I did n't find any option for setting LBA in CMOS memory.

BTW is there any known issues with 2.6.15-29-386 version of ubuntu kernel ??? since all the above mentioned issues began to surface only after i updated to 2.6.15-29-386 version of ubuntu kernel
