boot pause for ntp synch with dsl problem

While booting Ubuntu reaches a point where it tries to connect to an ntp server to sych the clock. The dsl isn't active at that point so it always takes about 20 seconds to fail. How do I get it to stop this on boot. I can sync the clock from the desktop so I won't miss this annoying quirk.

Manual intervention: Ctrl-C when it tries to sync the clock at startup.
Permanent intervention:
Code:
$ cd /etc/init.d/ && mv -i ntpdate ntpdate.REMOVE && sudo update-rc.d ntpdate remove

Thanks six6, something interesting though...

I never tried your permanent fix because, I tried the 'ctrl c' fix during boot and it worked perfectly. I used it again the second time, and subsequent times it became unnecessary. Now during boot it fails that part of the boot immediately instead of after a long pause. Has my ubuntu install "learned" something? It's been no problem since and I get such a kick out of seeing it just zoom past the problem now I've not bothered with a more permanent solution. Love my ubuntu!!!!
