Blank Screen After Log-Out...

When I attempt to logout the desktop closes normally, but then rather then seeing a login screen come up, I get a blank screen.
I've tried various "F" keys and hot keys and the only sequence that works is cntrl-alt-del which shuts down the OS.
Any ideas...? Thanks...

MB: Asus M2N [w/ AMD64 3500]
Vid Card: Evga GEForce 7300
acpi: enabled

What's Your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file look like?

might also try crtl-alt-f1 , f2 etc to see if you can get new terminal
if so problem lies in you dm. sounds as if you can boot into X but not out of it
also agree with last poster need xorg.conf whats is say also check your X log files
