I downloaded the 3.4GB iso and made the installer DVD for Kubuntu 6.10
The installation took 10 minutes
Then I was logged into to the desktop, I opened Control Panel and did Add/Remove
There wasn't much software in there. Nothing about programming, not many games, not many other apps.
Suse even had a bunch of control panel thingies so I used one of them to check my OpenGL version.
Kubuntu has none of that. At least it had the KSysGuard
How to install everything from the DVD?
At least I was able to install the ATI driver following the steps from a website. But I have to do glxinfo to find the GL version? There are no GL games so I can't test performance.

Adept package manager is where most of the software is accessed/installed... Open up Adept and search for whatever package you want to install, and install it there.
This wiki, while written around Gnome... will help you with a lot of things on terminal commands to install some programs, and how to add repositories etc.

Yes, it was from the wiki that I got the commands for installing the ATI drivers.
If you don't mind me asking, isn't there a GUI to install everything from the DVD? I prefer the DVD instead of the internet because I don't have unlimited internet download.
