Best GUI for Asus Eee

Hi
I have an old Asus Eee PC with Ubuntu currently installed, but I feel that the machine feels slugish in GUI mode. What GUI is recommended for computers with little memory and not cutting edge screen cards?

Which EEE model? Knowing the specific model will help me make a recommendation.

You don't necessarily need to switch distros. You could for example simply install Xfce desktop: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/xfce

I'm running Fuduntu on my 900HA.

Lubuntu with the LXDE deaktop is the lightest and fastest member of the Ubuntu family.
There is also Bodhi Linux, which is based on the LTS versions of Ubuntu and uses the Enlightenment deasktop and has very low system requirements.

With Unity 2d being cancelled, XFCE is probably your best bet. Xubuntu is pretty nice these days and just a tad sluggish under heavy load on my 900a. Lubuntu flies but lacks some of the functinality of xfce.

I personally think one of the best distros for atom n270 nettbooks is Linux Mint Debian Edition. You can run either Mate (Gnome 2 fork) or xfce. The lighter Debian base flies and the Mint apps and customizations are more than what's needed to get along. My only problem is that Debian doesn't play well with a few crucial peripherals.

I also like LXDE, but would like to bring up Fluxbox as well. It's arguably faster and lighter, at the cost of being quite bare without some config work, but I feel it's more responsive. It was reasonably fast even on an old computer with a Pentium 3 and 256 Mb of RAM I had lying around, where LXDE was lagging a bit.
