Beryl/Ati/XGL half working, half not!
I have recently installed Ubuntu Feisty on a laptop after previously having Edgly/Beryl working with my Radeon Mobile X1400.
Now that the OS is installed, I rapidly installed the ATI drivers and when I use ‘fglrxinfo’ it tells me its using the ATI drivers and its an ATI card. I added Beryl, emerald etc. via apt-get and created an XGL login session which seems to work. When I run beryl-manager the icon appears but the window manager seems to change and revert back to metacity. In the ‘select window manager’ drop down I have beryl, compiz and metacity. If I use beryl, it *appears* to still be using metacity. If I select compiz then the window manager changes, the windows go all ‘wobbly’ but the title bar of the windows are missing (although I can still drag them about!) and the cube isn’t working! Anyone know what I’ve done wrong or what’s not configured correctly? Thanks |
Regarding that 3D cube thing: Have u selected the 3D cube option given in the System->Preferences->Desktop Settings dialog?
For ur window manager problem: Try using the bundled Emerald window manager with Beryl. |
Try following the details given here
http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/I...eisty_with_XGL I did and they work like a dream for me on my laptop (Radeon Xpress 200M) |
I have tried all the window managers on the menu, but none of them work correclty. Compiz half works, but the others dont.
the cube is enabled but not fucntioning. |
