beginning guy- isos burn but don't boot
Hi,
I've burned gentoo isos via breezy, the burn seems to go well, but when I try to boot off of the new cd, the iso doesn't seem to recognized and the system just moves to the next boot device and loads ubuntu. I tried the ubuntu cd just to make sure my bios boot sequence was correct and that the actual drive wasn't the issue, but there were no problems; the ubuntu install cd kicked right in. I'm new to burning isos and wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks Much, ab |
if you just burn the isos onto the cds (making a data cd) it won't work... you have to tell whatever program you're using to burn an "image", then you'll tell it what iso file to use and boom,.. that should work.

Have you checked the MD5 of the ISO before burning it? Have you tried burning it at a slower speed?

Thanks for the reply. Michael, I think your explaination is what's happening. I believe I'm using Nautilus (isn't this the default app. that opens when a blank cd is inserted into the drive?). How do I specify to the app that I wish to burn an image, instead of just data?
Thanks Again, ab |
