Question Automatically Remember currently running applications forgets

What is it about "[ ] Automatically Remember currently running applications" that Ubuntu/Gnome does not understand.

I checked [ ] Automatically Remember currently running applications" on the Preferences/Sessions dialog. I opened a terminal window, Firefox, Gedit and the Terminal Server Client window. I logged out and back in. The only things running were the terminal window and Gedit.

Are there only a select few applications which can be remembered?

TIA,

Ken
