APT bug in the Maverick Meerkat: Whatever you do, don't install/upgrade any packages!

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...pt/+bug/625676

Again: Please wait for an update to APT to be released and build the update from source. I don't want you to face the same fate as me.

Edit: If you don't want to build from source, look on http://packages.ubuntu.com/ for the 'apt' package and install via GDebi.

Isn't Maverick Meerkat still in alpha/beta stage?

Ouch infinite loop, :P

No problems on Debian sid :)

$ apt-cache policy apt
apt:
Installed: 0.8.0
Candidate: 0.8.0
Version table:
*** 0.8.0 0
500 http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ sid/main i386 Packages

You know, that was my bug report. I got it when APT tried to install the libdbi0 package, essentially freezing without consuming any CPU -- definitely something an infinite loop would do.

craigevil, you should use the geo IP of Debian mirror, which chooses the fastest mirror for you automatically.

FYI, here is my Sid setting:

Code:

# unstable
deb http://cdn.debian.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://cdn.debian.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

BTW, I was wondering if Ubuntu has such geo IP feature? Anybody knows?

thanks
