apt/adept/dselect freeze

Hello,

i have Ubuntu Dapper6.06 , it was working fine last time i tried to install a software using adept...

but now, when i use adept, dselect or apt-get they all freeze while doing:
Reading package lists....1%

and thats it, i waited loooong enough, but they never finish or move after 1%

itried apt-get autoclean
and apt-get clean

but they didnt seem to work...

how can i solve that?is there a way to clean all the messy packages lists files and get a fresh copy online?or what?

regards,

in my experience, which is little, this can be due to the sources.list file. Check it to make sure its right and compare it to backed ones.
