Anyone else having trouble saving files in Hardy?

Just curious whether I'm the only one or not who finds the save dialog unbearably slow. It pops up fast enough but then it hangs for a few seconds before you can actually use it - and if you enter text instead of immediately clicking on OK, it hangs for another few seconds. It also affects the save option in firefox, which now takes up to five seconds before it will start downloading anything. I already searched google but I found only a few items that described a similar problem...

No problems in regards to saving my files with Ubuntu 8.04. I am finding that Ubuntu 8.04 performs a little more smoother than my previous CentOS 5.1 OS.
