Another newbie has downloaded torrent from ubuntustudio.org and needs your help
I checked the md5sum for ubuntustudio-8.04.1-alternate-amd64.iso
and read the response 'ubuntustudio-8.04.1-alternate-amd64.iso: OK'
so now I have to burn the DVD, right? I'll be doing that from a bootable pendrive running dsl-4.2.1-embedded (damn small linux).
I am a newbie to linux, I was playing around with slackware 12.0, and when I bought a new laptop, few days ago, it just would not work. Someone suggested ubuntu studio. And here I am.
I need help setting up this machine, every step of the way. If willing please subscribe to this thread or just check back every few hours. I want a fully working system ASAP. I promise that I will be here.
My laptop didn't come with a configured operating system, and hence the bootable pen drive. My hardware configuration is below:
Acer Aspire 4520
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core processor
TK57 (1.9 GHz, 2 x 256KB L2 cache)
NVIDIA Geforce 7000M
3GB RAM (1GB orginal + 'Transcend DDR2-667 2GB JetRam')
160 GB HDD
DVD-Super Multi DL
802.11b/g WLAN
Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
Gigabit Ethernet
Built in Webcam and 5 in 1 card reader
* i think the chipset is nForce (not sure)
So my first question is how do I burn the iso file to a DVD using just my pendrive and a empty partition on the hard disk? I read the DSL wiki, and there is mention in the forums about 'tkdvd'. The setup procedures are not included.
Thank you for reading this message.
