AMD-64 gnofin

Has anyone managed to get gnofin ( a small checkbook manager) to run on the AMD_64 version. That is the only thing keeping me from using ubuntu as my primary system. I have downloaded it from the debian site but it dosen't open. TIA. maury
PS I have been able to install and run it on mandrake, mepis, fedora and pure debian I am using mepis now but would like to run 64 bit. Everything else is working great but I hate to have to swap out my drive just to make a checkbook entry. (removeable drive bay).

Amd-64 gnofin

Debian has a page for the different flavors here
http://packages.debian.org/oldstable/utils/gnofin
I have used the i386 ver. many times. You have to install needed depends. but I keep them on a note pad and install them before hand. Then you mearly click on the dowmloaded file and it comes right up in snaptic and you put in the root pw and there you are. With the Ubuntu AMD_64 it dosen't work (won't open up and install).I just downloaded the Simply Mepis 6.0 Expermental CD and installed it on a drive (it is using the Ubuntu BB pool and it works fine)and I was able to put in the i386 gnofin. What I am trying to do is get a Ubuntu AMD_64 going with what I need to be my main system. It looks like the Mepis Ubunto combo will do well in time but I want a 64 bit debian based system now and it's very close. By the way Ubuntu AMD_64 is fast.
