Am I using Gnome on 14.04 LTS ?

Since this time last year I have been configuring my system to enable me to cope better with an enforced low vision problem.
I think I have things pretty well sorted out now. I have never been a real dabbler in configuring stuff - not from a visual sense anyway but necessity became the better of me.
During my dabblings I kept coming across the term desktop environments and mention of the various flavours of Gnome. I think by accident I must have installed something when I worked on large cursors, large icons, etc. I also got an impression that I may be missing out on something by not knowing the full extent of how I could tweak things to my advantage.
Anyways, with an eye on the future and 16.04 LTS probably 64 bit on a new secon-hand machine sometime I would really like to know how I determine what flavour of Gnome I am currently using, if at all.
Many Thanks

Hi.
If your using default Ubuntu, your using Unity (Canonical/Ubuntu's home made desktop).
They do have a GNOME flavor as well: https://ubuntugnome.org/ubuntu-gnome-16-04-lts-is-here/ (version 3.18).

Pictures for comparison:
Unity: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/wp-conten...us-750x471.jpg
GNOME: https://websetnet.r.worldssl.net/wp-...verlay-jpg.jpg

PS: IMHO, GNOME is easier for those with vision issues (almost no configuration needed, just clicking on some sliders in the top bar with a dedicated icon that groups everything).

Thanks for the response. I think I must be running UNITY from the first jpg - the second one BTW I received a 403 Forbidden error.
I'm running 14.04 LTS 32 bit with no great plans to update to 16.04 LTS until funds allow a 64 bit machine to be purchased.
I'd like to try GNOME but will only do so if I have a credible regression plan. I cannot face any long agonies restoring to a previous good state.

@DaveGinBoav: Here are some pictures of Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 as another comparison.

My bad, I took some random google pictures to show it in English (I'm dutch and French speaking).
Here's a screenshot using GNOME's "accessibility" icon (...in dutch):

While GNOME is far from perfect, their accessibility features are great.
