After update cannot login to desktop
After installing and doing 163 updates for Ubuntu 606 LTS, I can not log in to my desktop anymore. Tried looking for the area that will allow you to change the log in requirements. But there appears not to be one.
What happens is that I fill in Log in (user), and password, the screen goes black with one line of text, and then back to the log in screen. Doesn't matter how many times I do this, get the same result.

If you updated today, there's your problem. A bad X-server update. The Ubuntu forums have the fix.

phuck is 4 letter word
I tried, but did not work.
I tried from the recovery mode kernel, both versions.
Nadda............
I just reinstall over top and avoid the xorg update.
At least with other disco's, you could change the log in to not need a log in.
I even thought about deleting xorg, guess that would not work either.

apparently the version just before update was xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10 the update which crashes ubuntu is xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3 and a new fix is xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.4
by now I would sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10
