acccount/password policy


when can i set the policy like :

1: password age,
2: complex password
3: root account will never lockout, root account will lockout
4: etc...

Let see, you have a few questions here. Let me see what we can do. In order to force the use of strong passwords, you will likely want to use Pluggable Authentication Manager (PAM).

As for password aging, you can use the change command or make use of the GUI User Manager tools.

there is no option to change the number of attempt before lock out an account in /etc/login.defs ?
