8.10 - Keys not displaying correctly

Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 and I am finding that some of the special character keys are not working correctly. For example when I press the "@" key, I get " instead.

Its a Microsoft keyboard, and I have used it on plenty of Linux distributions in the past and have not had a problem with it. I tried using the microsoft and generic key layouts, but the problem still exists.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

To test your theory, I booted from the CD and everything looked normal. I then made note of the keyboard layouw... 105 key intl USA format. Rebooted to the installed version, changed the settings, rebooted again and everything was fine

Thanks for the tip.
