64-bit


The 64-bit ISOs have amd labelling? Has any one with an intel cpu used such an ISO with success?

I'be used the LiveCD on a 64bit Pentium D fine.

Any Intel processor with EM64T will run the AMD64 version.

I've been looking for a link to an article that I have read in the last two weeks about this exact question. I will give you what it said in my own words and maybe someone will recognise it.

Basically the reasoning behind calling the 64-bit packages 'AMD64' is that AMD where the first to have a retail 64-bit processor for the market. Similarly the 'x86' packages are sometimes called 'i386' as Intel released it...

It makes some sense to me... Why not.
