12.04 LTS, Update Manager isn't offering 14.04 LTS

I am running Xubuntu-12.04 LTS with all current updates. In Update Manager, I have: "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" set to "For long-term support versions". But it doesn't offer the recently released 14.04 LTS. Shouldn't it? I have read that LTS to LTS upgrades are definitely supported, even if there are other releases in between.

Someone asked the same thing over here and was told to run update-manager -d, but isn't that for "development releases"?

Never mind, finally found it here

Because Ubuntu 12.04 is a Long Term Support release, meaning that it is supported with bug fixes and security updates for 5 years, you won't find a popup telling you that a new version is available to install, at least not yet. Canonical will not start notifying LTS desktop users of an update until July, when the first point release (14.04.1) is set to go live.

Because even Canonical knows very well that the new LTS is not worth switching to until that time. Have no idea why people keep needing to "upgrade" to buggy versions when a short wait will make it considerably better.
