LXer: Windows vs. Linux: Time to Call a Truce?

Published at LXer:

It's time for the Windows and Linux communities to drop the religious war and get together in a hurry to put the strengths of each operating system to best use, according to a nationally recognized authority on Windows Server. [I couldn't agree more that we need a truce. Now just tell Microsoft to cease their anti-competitive behavior, their legal, political, and PR shenanigans, and then we can actually talk about a truce. - dcparris]

Whenever two parties fight, it's always the one who perceives his own imminent loss that offers the first truce. This guy actually thinks MS releases patches more quickly and frequently. How much of the rest of what he says is can be believed?

uh, i'm confused...
i use my linux box as a printer server for my windows machine and have even had the printer running off the other...nah i think i need a few drinks...must have missed something there...
unix and linux talking to each other...hmmm...deffinately need a drink, damm make that a bottle then i shall try reading that again...
i do agree with one thing tho...just everything after that is not worth trying to understand...
i agree....time to call a truce...its quite boring showing windows users the advantages of linux and then gettin a phone call saying there win box died..and they deleted linux cause the windows book says its better....
anyway i just put linux on two more pc's and so far got one saying its the best she has used(thats not bad from an 18 yo) and the other saying her tech said its too hard to work on....
funny as her tech said the m/b was stuffed cause win wouldn't install...i couldnt get win to work but linux did(i do know what went wrong)....
i use win for a couple of things but prefer linux....my son plays games on both and enjoys the games...the os is not that critical but i have got some good protection on win to keep it alive...just get annoyed when it dies...
to me its horses for courses and neither is better than the other overall except when it comes to cost...i like to pay nil and will give to a good cause and help others...cant do that with win....
