Unfortunately the story doesn't say they're moving to Linux. I found out recently that the US FDA, which regulates medical devices (eg ultrasound machines), mandates that manufacturers use Microsoft Windows. I'll mark it down as another example of why government regulation usually is worse in practice than theory.
